Ra.One Is Less Than 100 Days Away From Its Release

Countdown has begun for Shahrukh Khan’s RA.ONE. Less than 100 days remain for the Diwali release of the film and momentum is expected to gain with every passing week as the film starts unveiling many more promotional tools that it currently has in its kitty. Meanwhile the film’s director RA.ONE already believes that he has a biggie in hand. This belief comes from the confidence that he has gained after spending over six years of his life into making this multi-crore VFX laden superhero film.
“As is the known fact, deep inside every filmmaker knows how his product has eventually shaped up. There are seldom any surprises that he carries even though he may project an expression of disbelief on the success or failure of his film,” says Anubhav.
This confession coming from a man who has helmed a project as huge as RA.ONE (which is rumoured to be carrying a 175 crores budget) is surprising since most in his place would have wanted to keep a defensive stance.
“After working day in and night out for RA.ONE, I have come to realise what had happened after the success of DUS. It is as simple as that - I had got carried away by appreciating form more than content,” admits Anubhav, “All my concentration was on getting the technique right and in the process of doing that, I wasn’t concentrating as much on my story telling.”
For someone who had incidentally made his debut with a sensitive and an unassuming small time film TUM BIN, this was nothing less than a wakeup call.
“I kicked myself and started remembering the times when I had started off with a film like TUM BIN which was about relationships rather than style. I started missing the love that I had got for my story and not the way I placed my camera. I said to myself that ‘Hello, what are you up to? Where have your basics disappeared?’ Today if I am positive about RA.ONE that is because I know about the areas where I had failed earlier and how I have improved upon them,” says Anubhav. Source

Kareena Kapoor’s Discomfort With Bold Scenes - Shocking But True

While it is exciting to see Kareena Kapoor joining the ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2' team, the talented beauty has showed some reservations regarding her role in the film.
The actress, who is playing Dawood’s lady love Mandakini, has strictly refused to go bold for the character.
Now as all know, Mandakini became sensation back in 1985 for the scene in ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ where she features sitting under a waterfall wearing a white flimsy saree. ‘OUATIM 2' said to be having a similar scene for introducing the female lead.
So taking this in account, Kareena said to have showed her discomfort in featuring in such titillating avatar and has even voiced her refusal to the director himself. Following this the two are now discussing over the issue, since Luthria is keen to bring forth Mandakini’s signature scene as it will only help people to connect with classic actress. But at the same time doesn’t want Kareena to go too bold in his film.
Sources say that the director, who is quite kicked to have Kareena in the project, might rework on the script to suit her sensibilities.

After his business partner and co-actor of his upcoming film - LOVE, BREAKUPS, ZINDAGI, Dia Mirza, announced her directorial plans; it seems Zayed Khan does want to be left behind.
In a move to show his multi-talented persona, Zayed Khan has expressed interest in directing a film too. But unlike Dia who has no criteria laid out regarding the star cast and budget, Zayed Khan on the other hand has a clear cut agenda in mind. According to the actor, “I would love to direct a film in my career. The criteria will be that it would have to be a big budget film with a big star cast. But before this happens, I have to wait for some more time as I have already many commitments to take care of.”

However in Bodyguard, the core of which is an emotional romantic drama, there are quite a few hardcore action sequences included as well to make it a ‘masala’ affair”, says a source attached to the film’s writing team.

After Aishwarya Rai, it’s Lara Dutta who is expecting and Abhishek Bachchan has wished her, saying “welcome on board”.
“Thank you so much for all ur wishes and prayers. It’s an awesome time in life right now and Mahesh and I r both very excited abt the baby!,” Lara, who tied the knot with ace tennis player Mahesh Bhupati in February this year, posted on her Twitter page.

Lara Dutta Admits That She Is Pregnant

After several rounds of speculation and the couple refraining from making any comments, Lara Dutta has finally confirmed that she is, in fact, pregnant and quite kicked about it.
In an interview, Lara said that they (she and tennis star husband Mahesh Bhupathi) never denied that she was expecting and decided to come out with the news only when they thought the time was right.
On being asked about reports claiming that she’s ready to say goodbye to her film career post-pregnancy, Lara reportedly made it clear that she’ll never stop doing what she enjoys doing the most.

Few weeks ago writer Kanika Dhillon released her first book ‘Bombay Duck Is A Fish’ which was unveiled by her favourite star Shah Rukh Khan. Now looks like one of her biggest dream is going to materialise soon.
Buzz is that Kanika’s book is going to form the subject for a feature film which will hit the screens. ‘Bombay Duck Is A Fish’ is about a small-town girl Neki Brar, who like countless other star-struck people, leaves her cushy corporate job and comes to Mumbai to make it big as a Bollywood filmmaker. Naturally, the film is said to have characters that will be inspired from real life Bollywood celebrities.

Priyanka Chopra in a grunge look and Bipasha Basu in a gypsy zippered dress will feature in a hip-hop number in Ganesh Hegde’s latest album Lets Party.
The song, Mind Blowing, took four days to shoot at a studio in Mumbai. Audiences will see the two leading ladies dancing to the song, which is sung, styled and choreographed by Hegde himself.
“Both Bipasha and Priyanka epitomise all the qualities I’m raving about in the song. I was with each of them for a day and shooting was a breeze,” Hegde said in a statement.
Talking about the look and styling of the song, he said: “Bipasha sports a fringe, gypsy hoops and zippered dress. The fringe was Bipasha’s idea. She fell in love with the song instantly and wanted a look that was different from anything you’ve seen on screen before. She looks like a rockstar!

Big B Underlines The Connection Between Aarakshan & KBC

There have been few protests going around in Punjab before the release of Prakash Jha’s film ‘Aarakshan’ demanding the removal of a supposedly controversial line from the film which questions the concept of reservation.
“An actor is being shown in the promo saying “We don’t want reservation, we want merit”. Our main objection is with this dialogue. It seems the intention of the director is to oppose those who get reservation,” C L Chumbar, the president of ‘Anti-Aarakshan’ group said while addressing the media.
Since the film deals with a sensitive topic, such opposition is but obvious. Amitabh Bachchan has however made it clear how the film’s philosophy is a lot like KBC.
Bachchan wrote, “In many ways the philosophy of the film and that of KBC is quite similar. Given opportunity, even the lesser privileged shall prosper. Or at least have the capacity to prosper. The previous season of KBC showed to us that contestants from small town India, came up in large numbers and did what most metro town inhabitants could not achieve. The power of opportunity, the power of determination if the resources materialize, and the ultimate joy of disproving most others is really the triumph of the common man.
Who would have ever thought that a Muslim lady from a small town, conservative in its outlook, would one day sit on the hot seat and crack the jackpot of a crore of rupees ! But she did, as did many others from humble beginnings. And that really is the marvel. Those without means and facilities, those who have never had opportunity to even think of education, for them to suddenly find themselves in the higher echelons of society, speaks volumes for the democratic nature of our constitution and the adherence thereof.
The film ‘Aarakshan’ provides many sides of this issue and many other. And so when we have movie integration with KBC, this point stands out in great favour for the film.” Source

Get Ready For ‘The Preity Zinta Show’

After the likes of Big B, Shahrukh, Karan Johar and a ‘host’ of other Bollywood celebrities, it is now the turn of pretty lady Preity Zinta to make her appearance on the small screen.
The actress has agreed to host UTV’s ‘The Preity Zinta Show’ for its new Bollywood channel UTV Stars, to be produced by Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chillies Idiot Box division.
The show is slated to go on air on August 19. It is rumoured that Abhishek Bachchan would be the first guest.
This is not the first time Preity Zinta is hosting a show on television. Earlier she had anchored Guinness Book of World Records: Ab India Todega on Colors.
However, she had badly wanted to host a chat show, and since 2009 she was looking out for an offer. A source close to the actress revealed that Preity is highly excited about the project.

Ameesha Patel Is Confident Of ‘Chatur Singh Two Star’

Ameesha Patel’s comic sense is what that has led to the formation of ‘Chatur Singh Two Star’, her newest film where she is paired opposite Sanjay Dutt.
“This is one movie which is full of idiotic jokes. I am playing a complete goof here and trust me there was not a drop of glycerine that was needed since the only tears that were rolling down were those of laughter. The film is really funny and I sincerely believe that when people can like stuff like ‘Ready’, they would give a Thumbs-Up to ‘Chatur…’ too,” says Ameesha.
“And trust me, the character of ‘Chatur Singh’ that Sanju plays in the film is such that it would be a riot on screen,” promises Ameesha, “Though he is a complete idiot in the film, he thinks that he very smart. Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone will appear as special guests on the fifth season of the game show “Kaun Banega Crorepati”, which starts off on August 15 with megastar Amitabh Bachchan as the host.
“One interesting candidate and the entire anxiety of the working of the show just flies past .. we had a few today and tomorrow is another day .. let us hope that all goes well .. the second episode towards the evening will have invites to Saif and Deepika .. who come to promote their film and mine as well - ‘Aarakshan’ !!!”Amitabh posted on his blog bigb.bigadda.com.

Ranbir Kapoor Met With An Accident - Got 5 Stitches

Ranbir Kapoor, who was shooting for Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfee’ recently, met with a mishap which left him severely injured. The scene involved the actor shooting in a lake, which was in fact set up in Filmcity.
According to unit sources, Ranbir was so engrossed into the shoot that as he got out of the water he hit his head on a rod that was just above him.
The blow left a deep cut on his forehead from which blood gushed out. Ranbir was immediately rushed to a doctor and the wound was treated with four to five stitches!
The shoot naturally was called-off for the day. Since it was a serious head injury, Ranbir was asked to take rest for few days. But being a thorough professional, the actor insisted to continue working, only to be stopped by Anurag. Source

Dev Anand Becomes Nostalgic On Md. Rafi’s Death Anniversary

Veteran actor Dev Anand remembered Mohammed Rafi on his 31st death anniversary on Sunday, saying the legendary singer was one of the greatest souls.
“Rafi’s death anniversary is today but he is indeed immortal and (I) always feel he is around and in our hearts n soul I admire his voice and range. Rafi a great soul very quiet and fine person,” the actor posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
The singer lent his voice to almost all leading actors of his time such as Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Rajendra Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Rajesh Khanna and Shammi Kapoor and his mesmerising voice continues to rule the hearts of music lovers.
Yesteryear singer Mohammed Rafi passed away on July 31st, 1980, at the age of 56.
“All the songs he sang for me like this faster one ‘Jiya O Jiya Kucch Bol Do’ and many more were the best and I can’t write them all,” Dev Anand further posted.
“Many people tell me that when they hear ‘Kabhi Khud Pe Kabhi Haalat Pe Rona Aaya’. In blue moods they start crying and I can visualise them,” he added.
The singer, who was awarded the Padma Shri in 1967, died of a heart attack in Mumbai July 31, 1980, at the age of 56. Source

“A new pairing always takes time to settle down; especially when it comes to a film like The Dirty Picture, which by no means, is like any other love story. Though both Vidya and Emraan have been quite bold in their own ways over the years, it is different when you bring such strong and different individuals together,” remarks a source close to the film.
So while in isolation both Vidya and Emraan were kicked about bringing on screen the kind of characters that they had never played before, the challenge was to ensure that there was enough comfort between them.
“Milan had pre-empted that Emraan and Vidya would need to spend time together before the commencement of shoot. Said the sources, “As soon as fans heard that Katrina was shooting for Dhunki at Agra Fort, a crowd of 1000 plus gathered within a few minutes!  All the crowd and mob shots shown in the song are authentic - the only way Katrina could safely leave the venue at the end of the shoot was when a team of police was called to escort her out and take her away in a police van.”

Riteish Deshmukh Is All Set To Propose Genelia

Sometimes just a few words manage to achieve something that has been left unsaid for years. This could pretty much be holding true for Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza who have been firmly holding on to their ‘good friends’ stance for years now.

Now they have finally broken the resistance and are finding in each other’s company for this fresh love story.”
For producer Kumar Taurani too it was a predicament to find a title that best suits the comeback of Riteish and Genelia. He was stuck between two titles EK MAIN EK TU and TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA and in fact had also put forth his choices on social networking sites while asking for audience feedback. Obviously the fans chose the latter.
“Isn’t it a coincidence that after saying TUJHE MERI KASAM to each other at the very beginning of their career and then doing some MASTI, finally they are saying TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA to each other,” quips a mutual friend, “Seems even the stars want them to be together in some way or other.”
A musical romantic comedy, TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA went on floors last week. Now even Riteish and Genelia would be hoping for their on-screen love story to meet with similar success even as their friends wait for them to profess their real life love in open.
