Shahid, Imran & John Take On Salman Khan

Come September and it would be known to one and all that kisme kitna hai dum. Month of July has been extraordinary for Bollywood with four huge hits in a row. However September could well be the most defining month of 2011 when it comes to youngsters taking the forefront and rising up to the challenge. Shahid Kapoor, Imran Khan and John Abraham - three Gen X actors on whom Bollywood future is dependent would be vying for attention right through the month, hence claiming their spot under the sun.
Says a filmmaker who has a knack for launching newcomers, “This is the most crucial period for the industry since all three actors are at a very crucial juncture of their career. Shahid has to score a big hit with ‘Mausam’ so that after ‘Kaminey, ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Vivah’, he can stake further claim in the bracket of top stars. Ditto for Imran Khan who has to now strike hard with ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ now that his positioning is hot after ‘Delhi Belly’, ‘Break Ke Baad’ and ‘I Hate Luv Storys’.”
The man who can be expected to be the most anxious of all is John Abraham who has some catching up to do after ‘Jhoota Hi Sahi’. However with ‘Force’ looking good, he now needs to reclaim his ‘New York’ and ‘Dostana’ positioning.
“The biggest fun though lies in seeing how coming together of this young blood takes on the might of Salman Khan,” a trade pundit quips, “Don’t forget that his ‘Bodyguard’ would be a solid threat for everyone who dares to come in September. Though his film opens on Eid, it would see full fledged release only on 2nd September. Especially Imran can’t take him too lightly as he arrives only a week later.”
One wonders how the fun element would have only accentuated further had Ranbir stuck to his original plans for September arrival of ‘Rockstar’! Now that would have resulted in some battle of supremacy for sure. Source

The Love & Hate Relationship Of Sonam & Shahid Kapoor

From the very first day Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor starrer MAUSAM went on floors, we’ve been hearing reports about Shahid and Sonam not getting along well.
When asked Shahid Kapoor about the same he said, ‘We have a very friendly-fighty relationship. Sonam and I love & hate each other. That is how we are.’
Sonam Kapoor was quick to add, ‘I don’t usually interact with my co-stars. Actually, I’m extremely shy and reserved person before someone gets to know me. Shahid had to talk to me initially and then we were fighting. But I don’t think we had any major fights. We used fight about the kind of clothes Shahid wore. Eventually we became friends.’ Source

Shahid Kapoor’s Love For His Stepmom

Seeing stepmom Supriya Pathak’s prominent contribution towards every department of Mausam, Shahid Kapoor has persuaded his producers to bill her as the associate director for the movie.
According to members of the film’s primary crew, Pathak has contributed enormously in shaping the film that is being directed by Pankaj Kapur.
Says a source, “It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say the Shahid-Sonam Kapoor starrer couldn’t have been made without Supriyaji.
From the lighting to the script and dialogues, to making sure that the actors have their lines ready, to adjusting their clothes, to making sure Pankaj has his medicines and meals on time, she has been the driving-force of the film.”
Producer Sheetal Talwar reluctantly admits, “Yes, we are thinking of something on those lines (to bill Pathak as associate director).”

Genelia D’Souza and Shahid Kapoor have been signed in to endorse Colgate toothpaste, and take on rival brand Pepsodent’s Shah Rukh Khan.

Shahid Kapoor In Mausam - First Look

It has been predicted that 2011 will undoubtedly be the year for sequels in Indian cinema. However, one such film which won’t be a second or third installment is Pankaj Kapur’s Mausam. Starring his son Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, the movie will see Shahid play the role of a pilot which, if rumours are to be believed, has a likeness with Tom Cruise’s character in Top Gun.
With the tag-line “A timeless love story” and recently revealed first looks of a unique nature, the film is said to be one of the most romantic stories of recent times. The posters give a regal feel and fans can be forgiven if reminded of a look which draws similarities to 1942 - A Love Story. The two posters that Shahid tweeted on Valentine’s Day as the “Season of love” are cleverly designed in warm and cold colours, in keeping with the “Mausam” theme. The eternal element is brought in only when looking at both posters at once where it is noticeable that one attempts to encompass a love story with the innocence of yesteryear whereas the other depicts a contemporary pose between the two protagonists.
Mausam is already creating waves of expectations for fans and industry folk with the freshness that comes along with it. The movie will see Shahid in a role very different to any other he has portrayed before. The actor was recently reported to have to fly an F-16 fighter jet for his role and was honoured to do so. A source close to the event revealed, “Shahid couldn’t drink any liquid 4 hours before flight n couldn’t eat anything 16 hours before, except for two chocolate bars before flying”.
The movie will also give birth to a fresh new jodi in Bollywood. Although at first glance, Shahid and Sonam may seem like an unlikely pair, their coming together will be interesting to say the least. It has been said that the two shared a good rapport whilst shooting and their tweets while in filming in Scotland reflect just that. Stories were rife about Sonam’s refusal to kiss the chocolate boy Shahid on-screen but on the whole, it seems the duo will set the screen on fire in a sweet and romantic sense.
Pankaj Kapur has been working hard both behind the scenes and in front of the camera in what will be his debut as a writer and director. Kapur will also share screen space with his beloved son for the first time. Daddy dearest has been heard raving about his son’s performance in the film in what he believes will be a surprise package. His own appearance in the film is said to be of the fleeting kind and the reason for this is his decision to channel his energies and sensibilities more towards the making of the film as opposed to performing in it.

Shahid Kapoor To Turn Director - Takes Inspiration From Dad

After watching his father, Pankaj Kapoor’s tranquil style of direction during the making of ‘Mausam’, Bollywood chocolate boy Shahid Kapoor has decided to don the director’s cap.
Talking to a daily on Shahid’s newfound passion, a source said, “Shahid was hands-on from the start of the project. And by `start` I don`t mean the day shooting began. ‘Mausam’ was Shahid`s pet project from the time his father wrote it. It was known that Shahid would play the lead, and participate actively in all the behind-the-scenes activities, including casting.”
Apparently, the decision to cast Sonam Kapoor was very much Shahid`s own decision as the source continued, “Since it`s a love story, there are only two principal characters in ‘Mausam’. It was very important to cast the right face and personality. Various names including Priyanka Chopra, Sonakshi Sinha and Deepika Padukone were considered. Both, Pankaj and Shahid zeroed in on Sonam. The role required a Kashmiri girl, and they felt Sonam looked the part. She should have a dreamy look on screen.” the source said.
Buzz has it that Shahid has learnt the art of surrendering himself to the director and this is why he will not cast himself as actor in the film he plans to directs. “While Ranbir Kapoor is willing to cast himself in his directorial debut, Shahid won`t. When he directs a film next year, it will feature another actor,” added the source.
When enquired the actor, Shahid said, “Working with my dad has been a very different experience. He`s a very sorted director. That`s the way I want to be. To surrender to the director and trust him blindly is a great feeling. I want to experience it first-hand. From now on, when I am acting, I`ll surrender to the director`s vision. It takes away from the pressure of being an actor. It was humbling working with dad.” Source

Deepika Refuses To Work With Shahid Kapoor ?

Some time earlier Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor were rumored to pair up as Heer Ranjha for Sajid Nadiadwala but the film has been shelved now. The film was to be directed by Sabir Khan but now the film is no longer happening and the reason behind it is said that Deepika is not keen to do the film.
Shahid is now going to be part of another of Sajid’s film directed by Sabir Khan but Deepika will not be part of the venture. A friend of Nadiadwala revealed that Sabir is working on the script of the new film which is not Heer Ranjha. Why is it then that a section of media came to know about Deepika doing a film from Sabir?
The director earlier reported that the height difference between a hero and a heroine is not much of botheration and since Deepika and Shahid have not been paired together it would be an interesting on-screen coupling to see. But at the moment it seems that the fresh pairing is not happening the audience has to wait for quite a while to see these two together on-screen.
Right now Sabir is penning something new and Deepika is not going to romance or sizzle on-screen with Shahid in it. Deepika’s last film was with Abhishek Bachchan Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey and it dunked in the box-office.  Next she will be seen doing a special appearance in the song ‘Dum Maro Dum’ in the flick Dum Maro Dum and her major release will be Desi Boyz, Aarakshan and Housefull 2 in 2011. SRK, Shahid & Priyanka To Perform In Durban, South Africa

Durban is in for some real Bollywood flavour when stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra will groove to their hit numbers on Sunday at an event to celebrate 150 years of India-South Africa friendship.
The concert, which promises to bring together the world of cricket and entertainment on a common platform, will be hosted by actor Anil Kapoor.
This friendship concert is an initiative by AAMEDIA, a South African corporate, and Cricket South Africa. It is being directed and executed by Wizcraft International Entertainment and Cineyug Productions.
“Wizcraft has had a very warm and welcoming relationship with South Africa. The second IIFA Weekend and Awards were held in Sun City in 2001 and we returned for the fourth edition of the same in 2003 in Johannesburg forging a strong relationship between the two countries,” Wizcraft director Sabbas Joseph said in a statement.
“The hospitality extended to us was touching and overwhelming. South Africa holds a big place in our hearts,” he said.
The event will be held in commemoration of the arrival of the first Indian labourers in 1860 to work on the sugarcane plantations in South Africa.
The concert will also honour Sachin Tendulkar and Makhaya Ntini - two great stalwarts of cricket from India and South Africa respectively.
Several South African artistes are also scheduled to perform at the event, including Liquideep, Locnville, Drum Cafe, HHP, and 1st Project. Source

Shahid & Priyanka Plan It Out

Bollywood’s celebrated on-again-off-again couple, Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, is reportedly back together, and what’s more, they are set to ring in the New Year together at an undisclosed location in Chandigarh.
Shahid, who has been shooting for his father’s film Mausam near Chandigarh, will be taking the weekend off to spend time with Priyanka.
Although Priyanka’s spokesperson vehemently denied this, our source insists that the couple is back together. Says he, “Shahid and Priyanka are back together. The couple recently reunited when Karan Johar SMSed them to be a guest couple on his chat show Koffee With Karan.
That’s when they met and sorted out their misunderstandings and problems. After they went on the show as a couple, they realised that they were in fact victims of misunderstandings created by other people.
Now that they are back together, they have decided that they need to spend more time with each other. Subsequently, Priyanka, who declined all New Year eve live performances, decided that she would join Shahid in Chandigarh.”
The source further said, “They will be staying at a resort but no one knows the exact location. And in a way the two owe it to the host of the chat show who unwitting brought them together by offering them an opportunity to iron out their differences.”

Priyanka Chopra celebrates her reunion with Shahid Kapoor by going to a plush spa in an exclusive resort in Himachal Pradesh. The lady is on a body and soul detoxification mode and has decided to pamper herself. She has been accompanied by close friend Mubina Rattonsey with whom, Piggy Chops earlier had a fall-out with over Shahid.
Reportedly, she parted ways with best friend and confidant Mubina when she realized that her comments on Shasha were reaching him. But now, the two friends have reconciled and are out on a trip together to wash out all the negative vibes that once lingered between them.
However, PC’s father, Dr Ashok Chopra while talking to a tabloid denied this report and said, “Well, Priyanka is indeed out of Mumbai. But she hasn’t gone for any spa treatments to the Himalayas. She is in Ambala with my brother.”
