Katrina Kaif Wins An Award For Her Role In Raajneeti

She’s famed for her topline physicality and post ‘Raajneeti’, her acting skills aren’t really being questioned. Senorita Sheila, aka Katrina Kaif is riding a crest of popularity. The scintillating Kaif who has been making headlines all through the year adds yet another feather to her cap as she overshadows her contemporaries to win the ‘Best Actress’ award on the popular show ‘Movie Masala’ on a leading channel.
The awards determined by a public opinion poll saw the gorgeous actress beat the likes of other heavyweights in the ‘Best Actor Female Category’ by a clear sweep of votes for her role in Prakash Jha’s ‘Raajneeti’.

SRK, Shahid & Priyanka To Perform In Durban, South Africa

Durban is in for some real Bollywood flavour when stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra will groove to their hit numbers on Sunday at an event to celebrate 150 years of India-South Africa friendship.
The concert, which promises to bring together the world of cricket and entertainment on a common platform, will be hosted by actor Anil Kapoor.
This friendship concert is an initiative by AAMEDIA, a South African corporate, and Cricket South Africa. It is being directed and executed by Wizcraft International Entertainment and Cineyug Productions.
“Wizcraft has had a very warm and welcoming relationship with South Africa. The second IIFA Weekend and Awards were held in Sun City in 2001 and we returned for the fourth edition of the same in 2003 in Johannesburg forging a strong relationship between the two countries,” Wizcraft director Sabbas Joseph said in a statement.
“The hospitality extended to us was touching and overwhelming. South Africa holds a big place in our hearts,” he said.
The event will be held in commemoration of the arrival of the first Indian labourers in 1860 to work on the sugarcane plantations in South Africa.
The concert will also honour Sachin Tendulkar and Makhaya Ntini - two great stalwarts of cricket from India and South Africa respectively.
Several South African artistes are also scheduled to perform at the event, including Liquideep, Locnville, Drum Cafe, HHP, and 1st Project. Source

Salman & Shahrukh - What A Co Incidence

It might come as a surprise to you. Coincidentally, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan had left for Dubai earlier and strode into Mumbai airport simultaneously within a minute of each other’s arrival, sparking off rumours that the rivals had probably buried the hatchet, at the onset of 2011.
No such luck, however. High drama was in no deficit when SRK showed up at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai at 9.23 pm… and seconds later… the ‘Dabangg’ dude was spotted at 9.24 pm! Onlookers gaped outright and speculated whether the duo had boarded the same flight and whether they did exchange any kind words with each other.
Incidentally, both icons had boarded chartered flights and earlier, there was palpable excitement in the Dubai air as well. Both Khans were mobbed by Middle Eastern and Indian fans, besieged for autographs and keep sake snaps.
In Mumbai, collective adrenaline soared when SRK walked out with Gauri and Aryan; while Salman was spotted alongside dad Salim Khan and Helen.
Interestingly, the swanky cars of both actors were parked together and yet there were no skirmishes. Source

Esha Deol’s Sister Ahana Gears Up For Films

Esha Deol’s sibling Ahana Deol has bitten the acting bait. After studiously chucking acting offers, Ahana seems to have succumbed to the lure of cinebiz finally with Vikramaditya Motwane’s forthcoming flick. Word has it that Anurag Kashyap who’d produced ‘Udaan’, Motwane’s directorial debut is likely to produce this one, as well.
States a close pal, “Ahana is very close to Vikramaditya and his wife. She’s going through the script and has agreed in principle to doing the film that has an ensemble cast.”
Confirming the development, Motwane states in a media quote, “I do want to have Ahana on board my film. I have given her the script and she is reading it. The reason I chose Ahana is that she has a very interesting face.”
For the uninitiated, Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s daughter had swatted down the offer to enact the lead in one of Dev Anand’s films. That apart, she had consistently refrained from greenlighting any B’Town flick over the years. Her pals and relatives felt that she was fighting shy of zooming into B’Town, though Ahana has gone and proved all of them wrong.
In 2010, Ahana who was initially contemplating turning movie director, opened a store stocking garments fashioned by her, edibles, gourmet products, apart from paintings and photographs by other artists. Guess, now she’ll be more into frames. Source

Ranveer Singh Must Be Overwhelmed With SRK’s Comments

The 2010 debutant Ranveer Singh couldn’t have asked for more. The ‘Band Baaja Baarat’ debutant was on cloud nine for being praised by none other than Shah Rukh Khan for the wonderful performance he displayed in his first film.
Recently Shah Rukh watched ‘Band Baaja Baarat’, and he was so impressed by the newcomer’s act in the film that he couldn’t stop himself from calling Ranveer ‘the new talent on the block’. What’s more is that SRK took time off from his busy schedule to personally call the actor for his commendable act in BBB.
SRK congratulated the actor and told him that for a first film, he was simply too good. Ranveer, on the other end of the phone must have been absolutely thrilled that his idol was talking to him. According to a source, the high point of the conversation and perhaps the best moment for Ranveer was when Shah Rukh stated that ‘he would be the next superstar after him’. The minute Ranveer heard this; he was instantly transported to seventh heaven.

Madhavan Is Indeed On A Roll

R. Madhavan is indeed riding a high wave at the moment. His first release for 2011, Tanu Weds Manu , which co-stars Kangana Ranaut, had its trailer released and it is getting very positive feedback. Not only that his last release in Tamil film industry from 2010, Manmadhan Ambu is being lapped up by the audience with enormous praise for his role as Madhanagopal, a millionaire businessman that is highly suspicious of his actress fiancée, played by newcomer Trisha. The film also stars legendary actor Kamal Haasan.
The actor is over the moon by the positive response to his acting in Manmadhan Ambu with most compliments referring to his “drunken” act - there is a significant portion of the movie that his character is constantly drinking on screen. So ecstatic was the actor at compliments from his fans on twitter, he even apologised to his other followers as he retweeted some of their tweets, both good and bad: “Do forgive me for da retweets PPL-so tough to contain myself- am a Huge Kamal sir devotee-just 2dy pls unfollow for 2day if this is unbearable,” he says.
The collaboration of Kamal Haasan and Madhavan has proven quite fruitful for the actor where appreciation is concerned. Whether it’s the bratty city-bred youth of Anbe Sivam, whose life changes as he travels with a stranger played by Kamal or the small town cook that travels to another country for his family’s well being in Kamal’s own production Nala Damayanthi, which became Ramji Londonwaley two years later in 2005, the actor has taken a change in character and stepped up with his acting.
Although he spent the holidays in Dubai, the actor is said to be organising a special bash for his “guru as he calls, Kamal Haasan, as a means to bond with the legend who has completed 50 years in the industry, an illustrious career most would die for. “I love to bond with Kamal Haasan. He is an icon and institution and one gets to learn from him so much that it’s always a pleasure,” the 3 idiots actors said to Time of India.

Kiran Rao’s Craze For Salman Khan

Bollywood actor Salman Khan is a favourite amongst perfectionist Aamir’s near and dear ones. The emotional Bollywood muscle man never objects to any references made to him by Aamir in his films and takes it very sportingly… Why….? The reason is Aamir’s beloved wife Kiran is a fan of Salman and she just loves the superstar.
She revealed this yesterday at the press meet of her debut flick as director ‘Dhobi Ghat’ and agreed that Pratik’s character in the film wear’s Sallu’s trademark bracelet, he loves working out to build a body like Salman’s and he wants to become an actor like him.
And that’s not all, in the movie Prateik has pin ups of Katrina and pictures of Aishwarya eyes…
Kiran even confessed that initially during the first draft of ‘Dhobi Ghat’, she was actually thinking of casting Salman in a cameo for the film where Prateik becomes a star and meets his idol.
Anyway that didn’t happen for some creative reasons but it added more concrete to the wonderful equation Salman and Aamir share as a friend.
Even Aamir dear nephew Imran is awed by the B-town muscle man’s stardom and he has shared this many times.
Aamir and Salman are true friends…. It must be recalled that it was Aamir who acted as a middleman to cool down the emotions between Shahrukh and Salman during their last year’s spat which has resulted in permanent split between Shahrukh and Salman.

The Arrangement For Imran Khan’s Wedding is On

By now its common knowledge that Imran Khan will be breaking many a female fan’s hearts by tying the knot with his sweetheart Avantika Malik on Jan 10. While the wedding would be a rather private affair, Imran plans to make-up for it by hosting a pre-wedding bash (mehndi cum reception) on January 8 where he has invited all his friends from the industry.

The guest list for this pre-wedding party is quite a long one and apparently the buzz is that Imran has specially invited all his female co-stars and most of them have confirmed their presence too. Imran’s first co-star Genelia, his Break Ke Baad co-star Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor (with whom he is teaming up in Short Term Shaadi) have all confirmed to attend the party. Deepika, who is currently on a backpacking tour in the UK will cut short her vacation to attend Imran’s party in Mumbai. Bebo too will cut short her Swiss holiday with beau Saif to make it in time for her co-star’s wedding celebrations.

However, Sonam Kapoor and Katrina Kaif (who’ve worked with Imran in I Hate LUV Storys and the forthcoming YRF flick Mere Brother Ki Dulhan) would unfortunately miss out on this big bash due to prior work commitments.

Nevertheless, with so many gorgeous ladies in attendance, this one surely seems like one big fat Bollywood bash. Source

Abhishek Bachchan & Katrina Kaif In Rajkumar Santoshi’s Next

It looks like Raj Kumar Santoshi will be directing the junior instead of the senior Bachchan first. With Santoshi’s Power (starring Amitabh Bachchan) on hold, the versatile director has now quickly moved to another quirky comedy a la Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani.
The untitled film will feature Abhishek Bachchan in his first out-and-out comic role, opposite Katrina Kaif thereby putting to rest all rumours about Katrina being reluctant to work with Junior B. Maintains Kaif, “I had done one of my earliest films (Sarkar) with Abhishek. And it was great fun. Somehow subsequent projects didn’t work out. I had decided whenever I work with him again, it would be in an out-and-out romantic subject.”
Says Santoshi, “I’ve worked with Amitji before in Family and Khakee. But I’ve still not worked with Abhishek. I am really looking forward to directing him for the first time.
In him, I see great-untapped potential and a hunger to excel. There’s a very mischievous side to his personality, which has not been tapped in any film. I think Abhishek has great comic potential. When I wrote this script I thought of him immediately.” The untitled film will be produced by Santoshi and will go on the floors early next year.
Adds the filmmaker, “I’ve done two comedies before (Andaaz Apna Apna and Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani). Both were warmly accepted. This will be my third. I can’t wait to get started.” Source
