After making a career out of playing a bad boy in majority of his films, Emraan Hashmi is relieved that now he also has a comic success up his sleeves. His DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI has shown an escalation at the box office after taking a decent start and is pretty much in a comfort zone now with weekend collections expected to be around the 15 crores mark.
“Yes, this was my first out and out comedy and I am glad it has turned out to be a positive outing”, says Emraan who had to convince himself before coming on board for this Madhur Bhandarkar directed film.
He had all the right reasons to be apprehensive though. After all, his earlier attempt at comedy was a disaster with JAWAANI DEEWANI resulting in quite a few detractors pouncing on him due to film’s ‘below the belt’ humour.
“Technically, I still don’t consider that film as a comedy”, says Emraan with a straight face, “JAWAANI DEEWANI went into a completely weird space and the slapstick humour there didn’t work at all. I knew there and then that if I had to attempt a comedy, it had to be situational and funny.”
No wonder, today he is smiling the most with his conviction in DTBHJ coming true. “Yeah, this experience was far better”, he says with a broad smile, “A funny situational comedy like this is anytime welcome.”
Well, seems like here is one actor who may just about change tracks now! Source
